Children's Book Review: A Primer about the Flag

What is a flag?  Noted poet Marvin Bell and award-winning illustrator Chris Raschka offer a whimsical investigation.

In "A Primer About the Flag", children get to explore the different kinds of flags and what they're used for--such as cemetery flags, parade flags, maritime alphabets or flags on the moon.   The book is one short poem and each page contains a few of the words and is accompanied with colorful illustrations showing the different sort of flags.   At the end of the book is the poem in it's entirety.
This hardcover book is 32 pages long and 11.4 x 8.8 x 0.4 inches.  This would be a great addition to your library if you have children interested in flags or as a prompt for kids to make their own flags.   It could be a combined activity of reading the book and then doing a flag as a craft.   A great way to spend a cold winter afternoon!!

This book can be found at most bookstores or through amazon A Primer About the Flag.
